Abstract

The author substantiates the need to apply the systemic approach to translator training, to develop a uniform translator training system with types of academic and extra-curricular activities as its interrelated elements. The purpose of translator training system is to form translator personality which integrates professionally relevant competences and translator’s professional mindset. The translator’s professional mindset is the translator’s vision of translation as an activity and comprehension of the character of tasks solved by a translator. The structure of translator’s personality as a systemic combination of professionally relevant qualities and characteristics reflects the tasks faced by a translator in performing translation. The structure of translator training system is determined by the translator personality structure, the combination of its components, and implies interaction of its components, i.e. disciplines and types of extra-curricular activities, in forming appropriate competences
