Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of determining the status of youth slang and its influence on the students’ language culture. The global Internet is the main source of the functioning and dissemination of youth slang. The active use of social platforms and messengers by Kazakh youth belonging to the digital generation as tools of everyday communication not only initiates a change in the spatial and temporal context of interpersonal communication, but also transforms the personal identity, cognitive style and order of communication of a user. The perceptual side of such communication is expressed in the process of perception, study and evaluation by partners of each other. The purpose of the article is to highlight the problems of the verbal use of slang with evaluative meaning in the speech of the younger generation. Special attention is paid to the disclosure of possible reasons for the penetration of this vocabulary into the language. In the course of a study conducted in the 2022–2023 academic year on the basis of Ilyas Zhansugurov University of Zhetysu, the authors recorded slang words and expressions used by students, monitored their oral and written speech, conducted a sociological survey. This approach to the choice of material is due to the research task facing the authors – to identify the most stable and widespread slang in the speech of young people. The lexical-semantic composition of youth slang is determined by the extralinguistic features of the linguistic picture of the world of its speakers and can be represented in the system of lexical-semantic subgroups. The functioning of youth slang in the communicative environment of the Internet is dynamic and changeable. However, the use of slang in speech not only allows you to express the communicant personality, but, on the contrary, has the opposite effect. Excessive use of slang in speech leads to primitive communication and simplification of the language. In this regard, events were held with students to improve the level of their speech culture, tasks for the formation of literate speech of students were demonstrated. The presented materials can be used in practice by Russian teachers of higher and secondary educational institutions
