Abstract

The prosecution of unlawful influence on the results of official sports competitions (also known as manipulations of matches and competitions or match-fixing) is the object for not only of Russian legislation, but also for the regulatory norms of all-Russian sports federations. The latter create their own regulations on sports (disciplinary) liability for manipulations of the results of competitions, as required by Federal Statute No. 329-FZ of 04.12.2007 (ed. dated December 26, 2024) «On Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation», as well as corporate obligations to international sports federations of which they are members. The popularity of football and the amount of funds raised by bookmakers on a global and national scale determine the high level of the risk factor of illegal influence on the results of such competitions. The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Russian Football Union (RFU) have approved a set of disciplinary and ethical standards that establish sports (disciplinary) liability for unlawful influence on the results of sports competitions (manipulation of matches and competitions). The authors examined the relevant regulations of both sports federations and have come to conclusions about both the existence of regulatory identity and certain differences that can be supported in relation to the rulemaking decisions of the RFU
