Abstract

The article discusses the history of the construction of one of the most valuable monuments of wooden architecture in the Krasnoyarsk Territory – the church of Paraskeva Friday in the village of Barabanovo, Yemelyanovsky district. Thanks to the application of an interdisciplinary approach combining historical and natural science (dendrochronological) methods, it was possible not only to clarify, but also to expand existing knowledge about the time of the construction of this religious building. As a result of cross-calendar dating, three groups of dates were obtained. The first two are in good agreement with historical sources and show that timber harvesting was carried out in stages. First, after the decision of the village council on the construction of the church, material was collected for the main log house of the temple and the bell tower in the autumn of 1852, then, three years later, logs were harvested for the roof ceilings in the autumn of 1854 – autumn of 1855. Both dates fall on the period before the approval of the church construction project (summer 1856). The third group of dates (1870s) is associated with the strengthening of the building structure, since after the construction of the temple, the southern and northern walls, due to the large internal volume and high windows, began to deform, since the construction of the church, in order to meet modern requirements for appearance and interior space (mid-19th century), was carried out with structural mistakes. At first glance, inconspicuous miscalculations during the twenty-year operation forced emergency measures to be taken. The results obtained emphasize the uniqueness of this architectural monument, illustrate the possibilities of the dendrochronological method for detailing the history of the structure and open up broad prospects for the study of monuments of religious architecture of Yenisei Siberia
