Abstract

The possibility of obtaining basic bismuth gallate for medicine was investigated using X‑ray phase, atomic absorption and chemical analysis, as well as electron microscopy. A comparison was made of methods for obtaining basic bismuth gallate by the reaction of bismuth oxide with a gallic acid solution, as well as by precipitation from a bismuth ‑containing nitric acid or lactic acid solution as a result of adding a gallic acid solution to it. It was shown that it is advisable to obtain basic bismuth gallate for medicine by dissolving bismuth oxide of chemically pure grade in lactic acid, adding gallic acid to the resulting solution at a molar ratio of gallic acid to bismuth equal to 0.85–0.99 and a process temperature of 70±5 °C
