- Abstract
The article analyzes the structural changes in the manufacturing industry of the Russian Federation and its eastern regions in 2017–2023. A fundamental change in the share of the metallurgy segment and finished metal products in the structure of the manufacturing industry was revealed; a more significant increase in the total share of mechanical engineering and metallurgical production was recorded in the Far East of the Russia than in the Russia. The share of the manufacturing sector in the economy of the Far East in 2023 still does not exceed 5 %, while in the Russia it is 17 %. Moreover, the growth of its contribution to GRP during the period under review was lower than the national average, which indicates the production of products with lower added value than in the Russia as a whole. It is concluded that the existing preferential regimes are a necessary, but not sufficient condition for economic diversification and improving the quality of life, which confirms the need for further adjustment of methods to ensure the advanced development of the Russian Far East
