- Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine the expectations and perceptions of the educational community regarding the possibilities for the successful implementation of a research Master’s degree in the field of education. The objectives of the study included: preliminary conceptualization of the place and role of teacher- researchers in modern educational reality; identification of requests and expectations, as well as a preliminary quantitative analysis of the opinions of representatives of the educational community of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia. The main research method was a survey of representatives of the educational community in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia. Based on the results of the study, a number of conclusions were made. The stereotypical opinion that the priority consumers of research Master’s programs are individual subjects turned out to be in certain contradiction with the basic setting – the training of education researchers in order to optimize decisions in that field. The most important limiters to the effectiveness of research Master’s programs, along with resource shortage, are the lack of state scientific policy and institutional barriers. The greatest interest among the educational community is in topics related to the anthropology of education and transformation processes in education. The basic factors for the success of a research Master’s program were international cooperation and support for academic mobility, institutional partnerships with employers, and an innovative educational environment. There were no significant differences in the assessments of Master’s degree programs between the Russian and Armenian samples
