Abstract

6,6΄-di(adamantyl-1)-2,2΄-dihydroxy-1,1΄-binaphthyl was obtained in the reaction of 2,2-binaphthol with 1-adamantanol in trifluoroacetic acid, as well as in the oxidative coupling of 6-(adamantyl-1)- 2-naphthol. Interaction of 2,2΄- and 4,4΄-biphenols with 1-adamantanol under different conditions leads to formation of corresponding 5,5΄-di(adamantyl-1)-2,2΄-bisphenol and 3,3΄-di(adamantyl-1)- 2,2΄-bisphenol
