Abstract

The use of business wood for the production of fuel pellets has a negative impact on the forest balance of the Russian Federation, and also leads to increased competition between pellet producers and manufacturers of other types of wood chip products, such as chipboard (MDF, chipboard, fiberboard, etc.). To solve this problem, a device for the production of pellets from illiquid wood has been developed. with the addition of technical lignin as a binder. The device is equipped with an NMR analyzer that transmits data on the quality of the feedstock to a PC. The results of experimental studies of the physical parameters of illiquid wood fuel pellets, such as heat of combustion, degree of abrasion, bulk density, humidity and ash content, are presented. The studies were conducted using standard methods for solid biofuels. The dependences of the pellet parameters on the percentage of lignin in the feedstock and the pressing temperature are described using regression equations and represent a polynomial of the third degree. The fulfillment of the condition for the minimum number of experiments ensuring the specified accuracy of measurement results was verified using the Student’s criterion according to the Romanovsky V. I. method. Reproducibility was calculated using the Kohren criterion. The accuracy of determining the coefficients in the regression equations has been established. In the course of experimental studies, a rational technological regime for the production of fuel pellets from illiquid wood has been identified, which will meet existing standards for the quality of pellets. The influence of the thermophysical characteristics of illiquid wood fuel pellets on their properties and efficiency of use has been determined
