- Abstract
The article examines the fuel crisis in Krasnoyarsk in 1914–1920 as one of the key factors destabilizing the urban economy during the First World War, the revolutionary upheavals of 1917, and the Civil War. Drawing on archival and published sources, it analyzes the causes of firewood and coal shortages, price dynamics, seasonal disruptions in supply, and the measures taken by city authorities to overcome the crisis. Special attention is given to the establishment of the Commission for Combating the High Cost of Firewood, the organization of municipal fuel depots, the use of prisoners of war in logging operations, and the employment of credit resources to finance procurement. The study shows that the traditional fuel supply system proved unstable under conditions of mobilization, labor shortages, and transport constraints. The experience of Krasnoyarsk reflects broader patterns of adaptation among Eastern Siberian cities to the emergency conditions of wartime
