- Abstract
The article is devoted to the issue of applying energy routers in power supply systems equipped with renewable generation sources. General information about energy routers is provided, and their generalized structure is formed and presented graphically. Four topologies of energy routers are highlighted. It is shown that modern scientific literature does not pay sufficient attention to the efficiency of energy router usage from the perspective of minimizing consumer outage duration under various operating modes. A model of a power supply system containing a two-stage topology energy router, switchable loads with different priority levels, wind and solar-based generation sources is presented. Testing conditions for the power supply system have been synthesized at various combinations of renewable energy source outputs and under varying external grid disconnection scenarios. The comparison of protection algorithms for the energy router differing in approaches towards maintaining operation of high-priority loads has been conducted. The simulation results demonstrated unequal effectiveness of the developed algorithms, based on which appropriate recommendations regarding their application were given
