- Abstract
Improving the accuracy of liquid product mass measurement in large storage tanks is an important challenge for the petroleum, energy, and food industries. Measurement accuracy is significantly affected by thermal stratification, variations in liquid density and viscosity, and dynamic interactions between the measuring system and the controlled medium. Conventional measurement techniques based on static models do not provide sufficient accuracy under changing operating conditions. Objective. To develop an intelligent adaptive system for liquid product mass measurement based on a digital twin of an electromagnetic low-frequency exciter, providing automatic identification of the medium state and adaptive correction of measurement results using multiphysics modelling. Methods. A comprehensive multiphysics approach integrating electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal, and hydrodynamic modelling was implemented in COMSOL Multiphysics. The digital twin was integrated with the information- measurement system to analyse the current state of the controlled object. An adaptive data-processing algorithm based on medium-state identification and automatic adjustment of measurement parameters was developed to improve measurement accuracy. Results. An architecture of an intelligent adaptive mass measurement system incorporating a digital twin of the electromagnetic exciter, a multiphysics model, and an adaptive correction algorithm has been developed. Computational verification demonstrated effective compensation for thermal stratification and variations in the physical properties of the liquid. Numerical simulations confirmed enhanced stability of the measurement process and a reduction in the relative mass measurement error to 0.2–0.4 %. Scientific novelty. An intelligent adaptive liquid mass measurement system integrating a digital twin of an electromagnetic exciter with an information- measurement system has been proposed. A multiphysics digital twin model and an adaptive algorithm for medium-state identification have been developed, providing automatic correction of measurement parameters under changing temperature, density, and viscosity conditions. Practical significance. The proposed approach can be applied to the development of intelligent commercial liquid mass measurement systems, digital measuring complexes, and automated process control systems operating under variable environmental and technological conditions.
