Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study of the paintings by Viktor A. Zoteev, one of the key figures of the Siberian school of art in the second half of the 20th century. The research focuses on works held in museum collections and private archives of the Altai region, examined using optical and physical analysis methods, including ultraviolet and infrared imaging, microphotography, and cross-section studies. The aim of the study is to clarify the attribution of Zoteev’s works, identify the specific features of his painting technique, and document repainting interventions. The analysis revealed consistent stylistic and technological features, allowing for the reconstruction of the artist’s creative process. The results highlight the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of Siberia and emphasize the value of an interdisciplinary approach in art expertise. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of modern technological methods in examining regional artistic heritage and contributes to the broader understanding of 20th-century Russian painting
